2011 Philippine bar exams results – complete list of passers

Of the 5,990 law graduates who took the bar examinations last October 2011, 1,913 or 31.95 percent passed, GMA News reports. This is the second highest passing rate since 2000. Parenthetically, the figure is also substantially higher than 2010’s 20.26 percent.

As the said news item underscored, no one from the UP College of Law made it to the top ten this year. Conversely, three graduates from the Ateneo Law School (including the top notcher Raoul Angelo Atadero) and two from the San Beda College law school made it to the top ten:

  1. Congrats to the new lawyers, most especially to the Topnotchers!

In recent memory, this is probably the bar exam result where there are more than six — seven to be exact — Law Schools represented in the Top Ten placers. Hope the trend will continue in the upcoming bar exams.

Ateneo Law School has always consistently dominated the Top Ten places in the bar exams since its first batch led by former Chief Justice Claudio Teehankee Sr sometime after the 2nd World War, roughly in 1946. Then for the last 30 or so years they have also dominated the passing percentage, followed by San Beda and UP College of Law, usually in that order.

Once again, congrats to the new passers who are about to take their oath.

    1. Thanks for sharing that interesting bit of information. The three schools you mentioned can be considered as the top-tier in Philippine law (disclosure: I’m currently taking my MA in UP). And yes, I agree with you that having students from other law schools (apart from the top-tier) is certainly a good thing.

  2. Hey! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform
are you using for this website? I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

  3. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
