November 2 2015 to be declared a holiday?
Filipinos may have another three-day weekend a couple of weeks from now as the nation observes All Saints’ Day, locally referred to as “Undas” or “Todos Los Santos,” this November 1. The day, which this year falls on a Sunday, is a special non-working holiday around the country according to President Benigno Aquino III’s Proclamation 831.
Millions of Filipinos use the occasion to visit their departed loved ones, oftentimes travelling to provinces. For a lot of Pinoys, it is better to go to cemeteries on October 31 or November 2 to make their visit more convenient. Hence, it is possible that November 2, Monday, will also be declared a special non-working holiday.
While it seems just right for November 2 to be declared a non-working day, one factor that may hold back the administration from doing so is the reality that there are already too many holidays for the said month.
Workers in Metro Manila will have two non-working days (November 18 and 19) in connection to the country’s hosting of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit. Parenthetically, November 17 and 20 are additional holidays for students throughout the region. Meanwhile, November 30 (Monday) is a national holiday because of Andres Bonifacio’s 152nd birth anniversary.

Noynoy declared November 2 as holiday last 2013 because it falls on weekend. But now, that it falls on Monday, he did not consider it as holiday. Malapit lang kasi sa house niya ang libingan ng departed loveones niya kaya d niya maunawaan yung Iba na may mahal sa buhay na nakahimlay sa probinsya. I look forward that the next President is considerate enough, a person who knows that paying respect to departed love-one on All Souls Day is important. How could we visit our relatives in their grave yard if we need to report to work on their special day.
Hi, Gee. November 2 is a regular working day. It seems naging malaking factor sa decision ng Malacanang yung pagkakaroon ng dalawang special holidays this November in connection to APEC summit.
