#CloseUpForeverSummer – ‘Green amore’ blamed for deaths during rave party
Originally hyped as the biggest music event of the season, the recently-concluded #CloseUpForeverSummer rave party is now at the center of controversy when five attendees to the event died of mysterious circumstances. The five fatalities were identified as Bianca Fontejon (18), Lance Garcia (36), Eric Leal (22), Ken Migawa (18), and Eric Anthony Miller (33).
There will be autopsies conducted to officially determine the cause of their death, but this afternoon, officials from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said they observed that the victims suffered cardiac wounds and had experienced a spike in their blood pressure shortly before death.
Incidentally, Facebook and Twitter had been rife with first-hand accounts claiming that during the said rave party, some individuals openly sold “green amore” pills to the concert-goers. There were rumors too that drinks laced with “green amore” were distributed during the event.
Also known as “fly high” in the party circuit because of its hallucinating effect on users, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) first raised alarm over “green amore” back in 2014. A news report at that time described “green amore” as a cocktail laced with ecstasy (3-4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine) and shabu (methamphetamine) or cialis, a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction.
A PDEA official warned that the “green amore” cocktail can cause hypersexuality, mental nervous breakdown, and even heart attack. It is usually purchased online, with its price ranging from P1500 to P3500. The cocktails can be shared by up to eight persons, which means that overdosing can have lethal consequences.
