July 23 2016 declared holiday in Batangas – Apolinario Mabini Day

The country will be marking the 152nd birth anniversary of hero and revolutionary leader Apolinario Mabini this July 23, Saturday.

The day is a special non-working public holiday throughout Batangas, Mabini’s home province. This is stipulated in President Ferdinand Marcos’ Proclamation 2367, which he signed in 1984. The complete text of Proclamation 2367 can be read here.

An advisory issued in 2014 by the office of then-Governor Vilma Santos-Recto last stressed that Marcos’ proclamation covers not just 1984 but “every year thereafter.” And since it has not been amended and revoked, it remains in effect to this day.
