#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for August 13 2016 due to monsoon rains

(UPDATED, 7:30 PM)

With the onslaught of heavy monsoon rains intensified by a low pressure area (LPA) in the extreme northern Luzon likely to continue, several local government units have already announced class suspensions in their respective constituencies for tomorrow, August 13.

In its 5:00 PM update for August 12, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that the LPA is estimated to be 205 km north of Ibayat, Batanes (22.6ºn, 121.5ºe). This in turn will enhance southwest monsoon rains affecting not just in Luzon but as far as Western Visayas.

“Monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will be experienced over the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Mindoro, Palawan, Cavite and Batangas. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms is expected over the rest of the country,” the weather bureau said.
