How the KC-Piolo split gave me my first viral blog

When I finished writing the blog “Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion breakup – Top Ten Celebrity Reactions,” I knew right there and then that I will have another blogging hit (by my standards, a post that will get around 1000 views).  What I didn’t anticipate is that the blog will go viral. To date, the said post has gotten over 13000 views. In fact, the post was listed in WordPress.com’s list of top posts worldwide for two straight days:

November 29 – 22nd

November 30 – 21st

My humor post about the KC-Piolo split was the 21st most viewed WordPress blog worldwide last November 29 (please click the image)

WordPress also included my blog last November 30 in their list of “Blogs of the Day” under the “Growing Blogs” category – ranked number three! I first got the recognition last September, and back then, I was listed at number 71. The entire blog was reposted by Inquirer.net in the article “KC-Piolo breakup draws different reactions on Facebook, Twitter.” The article title has since been changed to “KC-Piolo split stirs cyber buzz” for the Nov. 29 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. However, I take issue with the Inquirer’s translation of some lines into English without my consent.

Thank you so much to the Professional Heckler and EnterVRexWorld for letting me promote that particular blog in their respective websites. Also, my sincere appreciation to everyone who shared my blog in Facebook, Twitter, and online forums. I’d like to point out that this happened on the heels of the 7th PopDev Media Awards, where I received the Best Text Blog award.

I know it is extremely difficult to replicate this feat anytime soon, but I hope I can do it again anytime soon. Of course, thanks to both my old and new readers!

  1. This just proves that not everything viral is a bad thing. Unless of course it involves rashes, fever and discharges. Then it’s a bad thing, in which case I don’t want to know anything about it.

Congratulations on the view volume – as a relatively new blogger, I’m hoping that it’s a feat I can eventually also lay claim to.

    1. Hi! Thanks for the comment. I wonder how you came across my blog. 🙂

Anyhow, all is not yet well for me as regards to blog views. My site statistics are wildly inconsistent. It seems that I am not yet getting enought repeat visitors. I should work on that.

    1. Kaya pala! That’s why I found it weird not to receive any reply from you. Hehe. Anyhow, I’ll be sending po my first guest post to your blog. Hope it’s okay for me to promote this page there. 🙂
