Class suspensions – July 23, 2012

Reason: President Aquino’s State of the Nation Address (SONA)

President Benigno Aquino III is scheduled to give his third annual State of the Nation Address tomorrow afternoon. In line with this, the a number of schools in Quezon City have announced the cancelation of classes for July 23. Most of these schools are located near the House of Representatives and Commonwealth Avenue, where thousands of protesters are expected to flock throughout the day:

  • Claret School of Quezon City
  • Diliman Preparatory School
  • School of the Holy Spirit, Quezon City
  • Miriam College (elementary and high school only)
  • Ateneo de Manila University (elementary and high school only)

There will be no classes in the following elementary schools:

  • Bagong Silangan Elementary School
  • Benigno Aquino Elementary School
  • Commonwealth Elementary School
  • Corazon Aquino Elementary School
  • Culiat Elementary School
  • Doña Juana Elementary School
  • Fairview Elementary School
  • Holy Spirit Elementary School
  • Lagro Elementary School
  • Lupang Pangako Elementary School
  • Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School
  • Melencio Castelo Elementary School
  • New Era Elementary School
  • North Fairview Elementary School
  • Payatas B Elementary School
  • Payatas B-Annex Elementary School
  • Payatas C Elementary School
  • San Diego Elementary School
  • West Fairview Elementary School

Classes will also be suspended in the following high schools:

  • Bagong Silangan High School
  • Batasan Hills National High School
  • Commonwealth High School
  • Culiat High School
  • Holy Spirit National High School
  • Judge Cecilia Muñoz Palma High School
  • Judge Feliciano Belmonte High School
  • Lagro High School
  • New Era High School
  • North Fairview High School

UPDATE: ABS-CBNNews.com has reported that classes in the following areas and schools are canceled today due to bad weather:

  • Malabon (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Valenzuela City (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • San Pablo City, Laguna (public and private; preschool to college)
  • Malolos, Bulacan (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Candaba, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Mexico, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Masantol, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Porac, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Apalit, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Cavite City, Cavite (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Angeles City, Pampanga (public and private; preschool to high school)
  • Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University
  • Happy Tykes Day Care and Learning Center – Quezon City
  • University of Santo Tomas (elementary to college)
  • San Sebastian College (starting 12:30 p.m.; elementary to college)
