Serendra Two blast

Two powerful explosions rocked Two Serendra, a prime residential project by conglomerate Ayala Land in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig Friday night. The cause of the explosion remains undetermined as of writing time, but it has been confirmed that there were three casualties from the incident.

The victims were inside a delivery van passing through McKinley Parkway when huge falling debris hit them. Journalist Raissa Robles has compiled eyewitness accounts of the incident in her latest blog post.

In a statement made shortly before midnight, Ayala Land said the blast occurred around 8 PM at Unit 501 of building B at Two Serendra. Ten units on the floor were damaged as a result.

“The building has been evacuated and the residents are being taken care of and provided with lodging while the incident is being investigated,” the company added.

President Benigno Aquino III and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas rushed to the scene immediately to personally supervise the investigation being done by Taguig police and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The Ayala Land stressed that they are “fully cooperating with the authorities” in determining the cause of explosion. The real estate giant has cordoned off “a large area” in front of Two Serendra for the safety of residents and bystanders.

Quoting a Taguig City police official who refused to give her name, Teresa Cerojano of Associated Press has reported that a faulty appliance may have triggered the explosion.

According to a real estate website, Two Serendra is a scarcely-populated residential development “with clusters of low- to mid-rise condominium buildings and spacious gardens.” Each unit costs P4 to P16 million.

  1. I find it odd that President Aquino and Roxas rushed “immediately” to the scene of the blast. Their mere presence is enough reason for me to conclude that the richest and most influential in society (in this case, the Ayalas) are always given special treatment. Let’s face the truth, these political leaders, most especially PNoy, were “nowhere to be found during the Luneta Quirino Grandstand hostage taking incident and [were] also nowhere to be found during the height of Typhoon Sendong.” (Source here: http://ph-underground.com/2013/06/05/why-was-president-noynoy-aquino-at-the-serendra-two-blast-site/)

Lakas naman talaga ng mga Ayala kay PNoy.

    1. You made a good point right there. It’s similar to Nonoy Espina’s thoughts on the subject.

“The rich are truly different from you and me… sumabog lang ang apartment, personal presidential order na. Matupok man libo-libong dampa, ni singhot wala.”

Truly, we can never achieve equality with a government like this.

But on another note, why are the Ayalas favored by the government?

    3. I agree!

Wow!

“What is even funnier is that Roxas says the investigation is being conducted by a whole slew of government agencies, which include the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Health, Department of Energy, and Department of Public Works and Highways.

Apparently such a full-court press is warranted, according to Roxas, because Serendra has the first piped in gas system in the country — which comes off as a bit patronizing because it seems like Roxas is talking as if no one in the country has ever encountered piped in gas before.”

  2. May nabasa ako na si Mar Roxas lang daw ang may right na magsalita tungkol sa kaso. Which is weird. Parte na ba siya ng NBI ngayon? HAHAHAHA. Answers please.
