San Mig Coffee vs Rain or Shine Game 5 live score update

The Rain or Shine Elastopainters held off a late rally from the San Mig Coffee Mixers to win Game 5, 81-74, and live another day in their best of seven finals series. The Mixers is still ahead of the series, 3-2. Jeff Chan led the Elastopainters with 24 points (23 in the second half) and 4 assists. Game 6 is on Wednesday, 8PM.

#FlashbackSunday – SMC and ROS first crossed paths during the 2012 Governor’s Cup. The Elastopainters zoomed ahead 3-1 but the Mixers won Games 5 and 6 handily. ROS avoided being only the second team since 1991 to squander a 3-1 finals series lead when it prevailed in Game 7, 83-76. It remains the team’s first and only championship to date.

Pregame – The San Mig Coffee Mixers will try to close out its 2013-2014 PBA Philippine Cup finals series against the Rain or Shine Elastopainters this Sunday afternoon. The Mixers lead the best of-seven series 3 games to 1 after winning Game 4 last Friday, 93-90.

Only one team in PBA history has been able to recover from a 3-1 deficit during a finals series. During the 1991 First Conference, the Ginebra San Miguel squad led by playing coach Robert Jaworski won three consecutive games to defeat Shell Rimula X for the championship. Rudy Distrito’s jumper with only five seconds left in regulation sealed the win for them.
