Netizens not happy with ‘PBB All In’ housemates

ABS-CBN finally launched yesterday night Pinoy Big Brother All In, the latest edition of the said reality show. The show, which first came to the Philippines back in 2005, will have 18 housemates. They will stay inside the Big Brother House without any communication with the outside world for the next 100 days.

The housemates are the following (thanks to our partner site EnterVRexWorld for this list):

1. Axel Torres – “Jock-Next-Door ng Taguig”, 19

2. Jane Oineza – “Rising Celebriteen ng Quezon City”, 17

3. Cess Visitacion – “Biba Rakatera ng Valenzuela”, 23

Commentary/Review:

PBB once took pride in calling itself the “teleserye ng totoong buhay.” When a show describes itself as reflecting the “real life,” it necessarily needs to reflect the diversity of the society that it seeks to represent. The disgust felt by the viewers of PBB, as expressed via social media, is understandable.

What diversity are you talking about when all your housemates have artistahin looks? Not all Filipinos have movie-star looks. If we are talking about talent shows like Star Circle Quest or StarStruck, no one would be complaining about this point.

Notably, of the 18 housemates, 11 are from Metro Manila. Only two are from Visayas while just one housemate hails from Mindanao. The show conducted seven auditions from November 2013 to April 2014.

Gone are the days when not-exactly-good-looking individuals like Franzen Fajardo, Jayson Gainza, and Teacher Raquel are considered for inclusion in this show.

Just imagine how the current edition would be better if they have housemates from diverse backgrounds. Why not have a housemate from a really poor family? Or perhaps a Muslim? An openly gay or lesbian housemate would be interesting too. PBB should have contestants who can easily identify with the show’s homogeneous audience.

I’m sure doing this would pay dividends for the show. After all, as one study in the United States found out, movies and TV shows which portray diverse casts perform better among its audience.

  1. IKR. I AM HOPING MAY SEX SCANDAL sa loob ng PBB House or better yet an orgy. Fuck this shit!

  3. Bakit ganyan ang mga bashers. Hehehhe pag may pangit at mahihirap na pumasok sa pbb wala din masabing maganda sasabihin pinasok sa pbb kse mahirap na pangit pa kawawa nman. Tpos mananalo. Hahahaha. Nkakaaliw lng ung mga galit na galit. Just enjoy the show. Just enjoy the show.

    1. d mo ba pansin most of them paglabas ng bahay ni kuya mataas na ang chance maging star.
ABS-CBN is just looking for them by means of voting, social media and etc.

      1. If you don’t want to be fooled by PBB, don’t watch it. As simple as that. Spreading more hate towards the show is a waste of time. Better watch The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.

“Notably, of the 18 housemates, 11 are from Metro Manila. Only two are from Visayas while just one housemate hails from Mindanao. The show conducted seven auditions from November 2013 to April 2014.”

Siyempre unpredictable dapat ang show diba?

  5. PBB is just a waste of time. Do you think these new housemates will represent the various sectors of our society? All of them have two things in common: Artistahin and Rich Kids. We don’t mean to bash their personal lives or the house itself. We’re just speaking in behalf of the thousands of simple, ordinary Filipinos from various parts of the country who lined up for the auditions. That’s the problem with the network. They prioritize the rich and famous while the ones who are more talented and has an effective place in society are left behind. Sorry but that’s what this ALL IN season of PBB is all about. Look at those faces.

Oh, the show used to have housemates from the LGBT community – Rica Paras and Divine Smith. Unfortunately, they didn’t carried their advocacy while inside the house. Nakipaglandian din lang sila sa loob.

    1. Well naglandian man sila Riva Paras at Divine sa loob ng bahay okay lang kasi may narepresent sila kahit papano. Mejo ordinary sila in their not so ordinary way of lifestyle and attitude kaya ok lang may diversity. Eh ngayon lahat magagamfa gwapo arte arte elistista may makaya. Kaloka. Asan na mga tambay? Dating adik. Nagsusumikap sa buhay. Baklang teenager. Ampon. Ignorante kasi prombing promdi. Katulong or hardinero. Echuserang social climber.

    2. Tama. Yung kila Nene at Sam Milby. Ganon sana. Halo-halong tao. Sorry, PBB fans. Opinyon ko lang naman ito.

  6. sus! halata naman sa simula pa lng pili na yang mga housemate na yan! abs-cbn is just looking for a new star that will give them lots of money!

  7. This is just my opinyon: halata kasi na may mga connection sa Showbiz ung karamihan sa new housemates ni Kuya… kaya hindi ako magtaka kung? na marami sa kanila ay hindi dumaan sa audition… at isa pa sana since after PBB most of them ay makakapasok sa Showbiz Industry.. sana ibalik nalang po ang Star Circle Quest. I just felt a little bit sad for those who made their effort to line up for the audition and then at the end.. we see that that housemates are cleary many of them are connected with some Showbiz Personalities.. A very clear thing that they did not anymore need to audition

    1. What do you expect from ABS anyway? Even before this PBB ALL IN, the network is infamous for milking on people who can give them lots of money.

  8. it’s really disappointing.. I feel sorry for the people who lined, auditioned and did many crazy things just to impress them.. still i still believe that PBB is far more greater than this..very disappointing..

  9. Gwapo naman si Franzen Fajardo, kamukha no Markky Stroem. The only Pbb worth watching was the first edition, sila Cass, Uma, Nene and yung first celeb edition young sila Rustom and .Keanna. tapos nun pangit na. I miss Mariel Rodriguez so much.

Mag aala rustom ba sila at lalantad on national tv?

  12. Remeber what Ricky Gervais said in his Hit TV Series Extras when his character joined Big Brother? “What are we doing? Selling ourselves, selling everything! … ‘Oh, I’m pregnant. We must televise the birth. Quick, see if Ryan Seacrest can present it! Maybe it can make E! channel’s “100 Greatest Cesareans.”‘ I’m just sick of these celebrities living their lives out in the open all the time. Why would you do that? It’s like these pop stars choose the perfect moment to go into rehab. They call their publicist before they call a taxi. Then they come out and do their second autobiography. This one is called ‘Love Me or I’ll Kill Myself.’ Oh, go kill yourself then! And the papers lap it up. And they follow us round and that makes people think we’re important and that makes us think we’re important. If they stopped taking pictures of us, people wouldn’t take to the streets going, ‘Oh, quick! I need a picture of Cameron Diaz with a pimple!’ They wouldn’t care. They’d go on with something else. They’d get on with their lives. You open the paper and you see a picture of Lindsay Lohan getting out of a car and the headline is ‘Cover Up, Lindsay! We Can See Your Knickers!’ Well, of course you can see her knickers. Your photographer is lying in the road pointing his camera up her dress to see her knickers. You’re literally the gutter press. And … you, the makers of this show as well! You can’t wash your hands of this. You can’t say, ‘Oh, it’s exploitation, but it’s what the public wants.’ No! The Victorian freak show never went away. Now it’s called ‘Big Brother’ or ‘American Idol’ . . . . And … you for watching this at home. Shame on you. And shame on me because I’m the worst of all. Because I say, ‘I’m an entertainer because it’s in my blood!’ Yeah, it’s my blood because a real job’s too hard. I would’ve loved to have been a doctor. Too hard to put the work in. I wanted to be a war hero. Too scared. So I go, ‘It’s what I do,’ and I have someone bullocked if my cappuccino’s cold or if they look at me the wrong way. Do you know what a friend of mine said? I’ll never be happy because I’ll never be famous enough.” Seriously PBB is a waste of time, you only live one life, don’t waste it on something that won’t matter, this is an obvious attempt of desperation to fame, glory, and money. This road you people are taking is not worth it.

    1. I agree. Most of the people joining PBB are desperately searching for FAME. And once they already have it, they’ll likely forget the simple and ordinary life. Look at Kim Chiu. Not a fan or hater but she used to be the simple and ordinary chinita from Cebu who chased her dreams but after PBB and being one of today’s bankable stars, lumaki na daw ang ulo at hindi na namamansin sa mga fans.

  13. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. If you dont like the show, then dont watch.

Commenting on the show will not help you and most especially the network. ALL NETWORK do whatever they can to EARN MONEY AT ALL MEANS, that’s what you call BUSINESS.

  14. Let’s not waste our time giving a lot of sh*t about PBB and its housemates. To be honest, there are more interesting people (and stories) that we can relate ourselves with. I think that these people don’t need to enter that big f***ng house only to gain attention.

Let’s focus on the more important issues. After all, ABS is already prioritizing business.

MOVE ON MOVE ON PAG MAY TIME.

  15. >> they are all NOTHING. walang kwentang palabas. Hindi katulad ng dati. They should choose different diversity.. Its a waste of time.. Goodluck sa show! Thats a total sh…t!

  16. “PBB should have contestants who can easily identify with the show’s homogeneous audience.”

I don’t get what you mean.
