Voter registration for 2016 polls: May 6 2014 to October 31 2015
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is once more set to begin the registration of new voters. with exactly two years left before the 2016 national elections. The COMELEC will accept applications for voter registration beginning tomorrow, May 6 until October 31, 2015.
According to COMELEC Resolution 9853, the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) across the country’s cities and municipalities should accept applications five days a week, preferably from Sunday to Thursday.
COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez said via Twitter new voters should have “no more excuses” not to be registered since their offices will now be open during Sundays. He added that they are expecting three million new voters for the 2016 polls.
Any Filipino citizen who meets the requirements below is eligible to register and vote:
- At least eighteen (18) years of age on or before May 9, 2016 Synchronized National, Local and ARMM Regional Elections;
- A resident of the Philippines for at least one (1) year and in the place wherein he/she proposes to vote, for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the May 9, 2016 Synchronized National, Local and ARMM Regional Elections; and
- Not otherwise disqualified by law.
Meanwhile, those who has not reached the required voting age or period of residence on the day of registration but will possess such qualifications on or before the May 9, 2016 elections (for example, those born in April 1998) may register but only from May 9, 2015 onwards.
Applicants should bring with them a photocopy of their birth certificate and one valid ID for their registration.
List of valid identification (ID) cards, according to COMELEC:
- Current employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
- Postal ID;
- Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
- Senior Citizen’s ID;
- Driver’s license;
- NBI/PNP clearance;
- Passport;
- SSS/GSIS ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
- PWD Discount ID
- License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC)
- Certificate of Confirmation issued by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in case of members of ICCs or IPs; and
- Any other valid ID.
These identification documents should bear the applicant’s photograph, signature, and address. Applicants who fail to establish his or her identity by any of the aforementioned methods/documents will not be issued an application form while those with pre-accomplished application forms will not be accepted.
The poll body emphasized that Community Tax Certificates (cedula) and PNP clearance will not be honored as valid identification documents for purposes of voter registration. Other details about the voter registration procedures can be read in the COMELEC website.

You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
