BayanDSL review for Quezon City

BayanDSL review for Quezon City

Our family has been a subscriber of Bayan Telecommunications (or simply BayanTel) shortly after we moved from Manila to Quezon City back in 1997.  That’s not necessarily out of loyalty. It’s more because BayanTel is the only telephone company operating in our barangay.

Their service has been affordable and effective. Except for occasional hiccups, the only problem that we have is that BayanTel’s service is affected by power interruptions. So during typhoons for example, if there’s a brownout for a day or two, we also can’t use the phone. That recently happened when typhoon “Mario” affected Metro Manila last September.

We began using their internet service (famously known in commercials as Bayan DSL) last June 2012. I availed of their Plan 999, which offers 1 Mbps since that’s the cheapest offering. LOL

Prior to Bayan DSL, I used prepaid Globe Tattoo, and I can tell you it never failed to make my blood boil every time I use it because it sucks big time.

I am aware of the so-called horror stories from Bayan DSL users. Just take a look at the comments posted on their Facebook pages (click here and also here) to know what I am talking out.

In a scale of one to five with five being the highest, I’ll give it a score of 3.5. The internet speed isn’t really stunning (“you get what you pay for,” others might say).

Oftentimes, especially at night, internet connection becomes choppy. It is particularly frustrating to me when I cannot update my own website because of that. But at least, I have never experienced not having internet connection for days.

Just yesterday, I decided to have our plan upgraded to 3 Mbps because of Bayan DSL’s existing promo where I will only have to pay P200 more per month.

Can I recommend BayanDSL to others? If you are living in this area, then why not? Just don’t expect too much. Anyway, all internet service providers are swamped by complains from dissatisfied users.

PS: Queries can be referred to Bayan DSL’s 24/7 hotline 411-2000 or 412-1212.
