TNALAK FESTIVAL – July 18 2016 declared a holiday in South Cotabato
The province of South Cotabato in Mindanao will be celebrating its 50th foundation anniversary this July 18.
The day is a special non-working holiday as mandated by Republic Act 9654, which was signed into law by then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo back in 2009. The holiday effectively gives the people of South Cotabato a three-day weekend because it falls on Monday.
Just like in previous years, the highlight of South Cotabato’s foundation anniversary is the week-long Tnalak Festival. Below are some of the activities lined up for this year’s festival:

Amazing Queen – July 13, 2016
ADUSAY (Awit, Dulaw, Sayaw) competition – July 14, 2016
Mindanao-wide All-Star Cheerdance Competition – July 14. 2016
The Governor’s T’Nalak Charity Ball – July 17, 2016
T’Nalak Marathon – July 17, 2016
Fun Run (Run for AIDS) – July 17, 2916
T’Nalak Festival Tri-people Grand Parade – July 18, 2016

Note: Although General Santos City is geographically part of South Cotabato, it is not included in the coming holiday because of its status as a first-class highly urbanized city.
