#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for August 10 2016 due to monsoon rains

(UPDATED, 6:00 AM)

With the onslaught of heavy monsoon rains intensified by a low pressure area (LPA) likely to continue, local government units are expected to announce class suspensions for their respective constituencies for tomorrow, August 10.

In its 5:00 PM update for August 9, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that the LPA is estimated to be 815 km east of Calayan Island in Cagayan province (19.1°N, 129.2°E). This in turn will enhance southwest monsoon rains affecting not just in Luzon but as far as Western Visayas.

“Monsoon rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), CALABARZON and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro and Palawan. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms is expected over the rest of the country,” the weather bureau also said.
