#WalangPasok – February 9 2017 declared school holiday in Mandaluyong City

Mandaluyong City will be commemorating the 23rd anniversary of its cityhood this February 9, Thursday. The day has been declared as a holiday in schools by Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos according to a post on the city government’s official Twitter account (see below).

February 9 is also the 72nd anniversary of the city’s liberation from Japanese occupation toward the end of World War II.

It must be emphasized, though, that the wording of Abalos’ order suggests that February 9 is not being declared a special non-working holiday. In other words, people working in Mandaluyong will probably have to report for work during that day. The Filipino Scribe will update this post if and when new information is obtained.
