#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for August 25 2017

Northern Luzon can experience moderate to heavy rains in the next two days as tropical depression “Jolina” continues to threaten the region, with a landfall expected by Friday.

According to a severe weather bulletin released by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) late Thursday night, the center of tropical depression “Jolina” was last located at 430 kilometers east-southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (15.4°N, 126.0°E).

“Jolina” carries maximum winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph. It is moving west-northwest at 17 kph. Based on the forecast, the tropical depression will have its landfall over the province of Aurora by late Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday. It is projected to move out of the Philippine area of responsibility later that evening.

PAGASA has placed the following provinces listed below under signal #1. Keep in mind that as mandated by former President Benigno Aquino III’s Executive Order 66, classes in the preschool level are automatically suspended wherever signal #1 is raised:

Kalinga
Mountain Province
Ifugao
Nueva Vizcaya
Quirino
Northern Aurora
