September 11 2017 NOT declared a holiday in Bulacan

(UPDATED, SEPTEMBER 5)

The province of Bulacan will celebrate its annual Araw ng mga Barangay this September 11. Contrary to what was first reported in The Filipino Scribe last August 31, this will NOT be a special non-working holiday anywhere in the province.

Although section 27 of Bulacan’s 2007 New Provincial Administrative Code listed September 11 as one of the holidays in the province (click here and go to page 6), Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado will not be issuing a proclamation declaring it as such.

A proclamation from the Governor or President Rodrigo Duterte himself is necessary for holiday declarations to become official. This was reiterated to The Filipino Scribe by the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

To reiterate, The Filipino Scribe would like to apologize to all Bulakenyos for causing this confusion. Rest assured, this website will do everything it can to continue its commitment to truthful journalism.
