#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for October 16 2017 due to the transport strike

(Updated as of 12:30 AM of October 14)

In light of the scheduled nationwide strike by jeepney drivers affiliated with the transport group PISTON or the Pinag-isang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide, several local government units have announced the suspension of classes in their respective constituencies for Monday, October 16.

Just like early this year, PISTON is once more protesting the government’s plan to modernize the public transportation industry. PISTON and other transport groups have expressed fears that this initiative will lead to the phasing-out of jeepneys, which will in turn jeopardize the livelihood of thousands of jeepney drivers and their respective families.
