#WalangPasok – Classes in all levels, work in gov’t offices still suspended for October 17 2017

Malacañang has announced that classes in all levels as well as work in government offices nationwide will remain suspended for today, October 17, due to the second day of the transport strike launched by jeepney drivers affiliated with PISTON or the Pinag-isang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide.

In a brief statement, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea explained that this is in consideration of the commuters’ health and safety. Just like before, the government has left it to the discretion of private companies to suspend work in their respective offices.

This 11th hour announcement is an about-face from the declaration made earlier tonight by Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
