#WalangPasok – February 13 2018 declared holiday in Parañaque City

Parañaque City will be celebrating its 20th cityhood anniversary this February 13, Thursday.

The day has been declared a special non-working holiday there courtesy of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation 409. Read the full text of Proclamation 409 in this link.

The former municipality of Parañaque was converted into a highly-urbanized city in February 1998 when then-President Fidel Ramos signed into law Republic Act 8507, which is also known as the Charter of the City of Parañaque.

As noted in a previous post, the enactment of RA 8507 made Paranaque the 11th component city of the National Capital Region. It is now divided into 16 barangays and two legislative districts. Its current mayor is Edwin Olivarez.
