DEPED: SY 2021-2022 to begin September 13 in public schools

DEPED: SY 2021-2022 to begin September 13 in public schools

President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the proposal of Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones to set September 13, 2021 as the opening date for school year (SY) 2021-2022.

We thank the President for his full support to the delivery of quality basic education for the incoming school year,” DepEd said in a statement released Friday morning (July 16). The department mentioned that Duterte chose September 13 over other options – which presumably includes the department’s original choice of August 23.

DepEd likewise added that it will release the official school calendar for SY 2021-2022 in the coming weeks, and The Filipino Scribe will be reporting on it if and when it becomes available..

It also reiterated that private schools and non-DepEd public schools can already start their classes for SY 2021-2022 as long as there are no face-to-face classes and that the school will be strictly implementing only distance learning modalities. These private schools and non-DepEd public schools are required to submit relevant documents to the Regional Director in their respective areas.
