DOST college scholarship application for 2022 – list of requirements

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) announced last October 22, Friday, that it will already be accepting applications for its college scholarship program for school year 2022-2023.

In a statement posted on its website, DOST-SEI announced that the last day of online application and uploading of requirements for its undergraduate scholarship program is on Novemver 30, 2021. Interested parties are advised to apply through https://usas.science-scholarships.ph/#/register, where they can get more specific information about the application process.

According to DOST, applicants must meet the following eligibilities:

  • Graduating Grade 12 male and female students in School Year 2021-2022;
  • All students belonging to the STEM class;
  • Non-STEM students who belong in the top 5 percent of the graduating class;
  • Must have academic ratings in Grades 9, 10, and 11;
  • Must be natural-born Filipino citizen;
  • Must be of good moral character and in good health;
  • May have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but did not qualify for the scholarship; OR may have qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail of the award;
  • Must not have earned any post-secondary units.

The department also said that interested applicants should have a valid and secure email account, a working mobile number, and a stable internet connection.

“You will be assigned an Application ID. This, with pertinent personal data, shall serve as your access credential to the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship E-Application System. Please keep your access credentials secure,” the department explained.

The agency likewise advised applicants not to create multiple accounts since it will cause delay in accessing their application form. Applicants must have both hard and digital copies of the following supporting documents before they can file their undergraduate e-application:

-Certificate of Good Moral Character;

-Certificate of Good Health;

-Principal’s Certification;

-Certificate of Residency;

-Parent’s Certification – Applicant has no pending immigration application to another country;

-Applicant’s Certification Re- Not a DOST Scholar prior to this application;

-Signed Declaration of Applicant and the Parent/Legal Guardian

-Certified Copy of Permanent Student Record (Form 137) for Grades 9, 10 and 11

-Recent picture, passport size (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches)

-Birth Certificate

-Parent/s or Legal Guardian’s 2020 Income Tax Return / BIR Form 1701 / Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Certificate of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Certificate of Indigency / Certificate of Employment with Compensation / Proof of Pension

The SEI said the applicants may check its website: https://sei.dost.gov.ph “for the announcements of the scholarship qualifiers sometime in May 2022.”

The Institute said the Notice of Award will be sent to the qualifiers through their registered email address.

As stipulated by DOST-SEI, their undergraduate scholarship program has two categories:

MERIT
The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program, formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067, is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology.

RA 7687
Republic Act No. 7687, also known as the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994”, provides for scholarships to talented and deserving students whose families’ socio-economic status does not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators. Qualifiers must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching.
