The Department of Health announced late Tuesday night (December 21) that all Filipinos aged 18 and above are already eligible to receive a single-dose booster shot just 90 days after receiving their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from manufacturers AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac, and Sputnik.

Previously, it was announced that there should be a six-month interval between the second dose and the booster shot. On the other hand, those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can have their booster shot just 60 days after receiving their single-dose.

“We are exploring all possible options to safely mitigate the effects of more transmissible variants of COVID-19. The approval came at an opportune time as several countries also re-strategized in light of the Omicron and other COVID-19 variants that may emerge,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III explained.
