Several schools in the city of Manila have announced the suspension of classes in their respective institutions for January 8, Monday, because of the preparations in connection to the Feast of the Black Nazarene to be held the following day.
It must be recalled that Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has previously announced the suspension of classes in all levels throughout the city for January 9.
Millions of devotees are expected to take part in the annual procession (referred to as “traslacion“) this coming Tuesday. The Archdiocese of Manila has scheduled a long list of activities related to the feast as early as Sunday. And a significant number of these devotees, particularly those from the provinces, have already began arriving.
