The country will be commemorating the 151st birth anniversary of hero and revolutionary leader Apolinario Mabini this July 23, Thursday.

The day is a special non-working public holiday in Mabini’s home province of Batangas as stated in President Ferdinand Marcos’ Proclamation 2367, which he signed in 1984. The full text of Proclamation 2367 can be read here.

An advisory issued by the office of Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto last year stressed that Marcos’ proclamation covers not just 1984 but “every year thereafter.” And since it has not been amended and revoked, it remains in effect to this day.
