Veteran journalist and former TV host Tony Calvento passes away

Veteran media personality Tony Calvento has passed away Monday afternoon (October 9) due to multiple organ failure. He was 63.

“Papa, best known as Tony Calvento to friends and loved ones, has joined Our Creator today, 9 October 2017,” his son Sonny said in a statement as reported by ABS-CBN

Prior to his death, Calvento is a regular columnist for Pilipino Star Ngayon. He was also a long-time broadcaster for DWIZ. Calvento is best remembered for being the host of the 1990s ABS-CBN crime show “The Calvento Files.” Selected episodes from the show was even adapted into a movie with the same title.

Visitors can pay their last respects to Calvento at chapel three of The Heritage Park in Taguig City. According to ABS-CBN, a funeral service will take place on October 10 to 13 starting at 3 p.m. Calvento will be cremated by Friday.
