#WalangPasok – November 30 2022 declared national holiday for Bonifacio Day

The Philippines will be commemorating the 159th birth anniversary of revolutionary leader and national hero Andres Bonifacio this November 30, Wednesday.

The Philippines officially began celebrating Bonifacio Day as a national holiday in 1921 after the Philippine Legislature passed Act No. 2946.

Pay Rules For Bonifacio Day holiday – November 30, 2022

As mentioned in the 2022_DOLE_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, employees are entitled to receive 100% of their regular wage rate even if they did not report for work on national holidays like Bonifacio Day.

However, they need to be present or should be on leave of absence with pay on the work day immediately preceding the holiday.

This means that those who will not report for work on November 29 will not be paid for the November 30 holiday unless they are on official leave. Meanwhile, those who will be working on November 30 will get twice or 200% of their regular daily wage  – also known as “double pay.”
