Earlier this year, Philippine President Benigno Aquino III declared 2011 as the “University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law Centennial Year.” In line with that, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has released commemorative P100 bills with the UP College of Law’s logo in it.
It must be remembered that the BSP also released commemorative P100 bills for the UP centennial three years ago. Collectors are now scouring all over the net for these rare items – and in some sites, some enterprising individuals are selling their centennial bills for as much thrice the money’s real value.
Specimen copies of the UP Law centennial bill can be found here: http://banknotenews.com/files/978072701ab8822dfeb64d87c6f9d399-1594.php
PS: Salamat sa isang pinagpalitan ko ng P1000 bill last week for unwittingly giving me this. 😛
As I was promoting this post among my fellows in our office, a book illustrator quipped: “Ano bang mapapala kapag nagka logo ang 100peso bill, tataas ba ang halaga nito?” ^_^
