DESPERATE MOVE? Vice Ganda kisses Karylle during ‘Showtime’ anniversary show
Vice Ganda kissed ‘Showtime’ co-host Karylle on her lips during a segment in the program’s anniversary earlier today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
According to news item in ABS-CBN’s official website, Vice Ganda was performing in his character as rock star “Viceral” when he kissed Karylle. Before that sequence, he sang Katy Perry’s hit song “I Kissed A Girl.”
Netizens on Facebook and Twitter immediately pointed out that the act is inappropriate since Karylle is already married to Sponge Cola front man Yael Yuzon. Meanwhile, others pointed out that the singer seems to unpleasantly surprised based on pictures uploaded on the Internet.
They also described this as an act of desperation on the network’s part, since the show has seen its ratings collapse the past two months because of the popularity of its rival show ‘Eat Bulaga,’ thanks to the success of the so-called #AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine ‘Yaya Dub’ Mendoza.
In fact, the show’s sixth anniversary special unfortunately coincided with ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ “National Pabebe Wave Day.” Meanwhile, today’s ‘Kalyeserye’ episode generated nearly 2o million tweets from netizens around the world.
Will Vice Ganda’s “stolen kiss” trigger another feud between him and Yael Yuzon? And more importantly, what will the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board regarding this? The next week promises to be interesting for “Showtime.”
