#WalangPasok – November 2 2017 is NOT a declared holiday

Filipinos nationwide will have back-to-back holidays due to the observance of the All Saints’ Day, which is known locally as Undas.

As mandated in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation 50, both October 31 (Tuesday) and November 1 (Wednesday) are declared as special non-working holidays. Read more about Proclamation 50 through this link.

It is worth pointing out though that it is not likely for November 2, Thursday, to be declared as a special non-working day as well. The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post if and when new information becomes available.

November 2 2017 is not a special non-working holiday based on President Duterte’s Proclamation 50 (Credits: www.web3.mabini-pangasinan.gov.ph)

The Department of Labor and Employment’s Handbook on Workers’ Statutory Monetary Benefits (2016 edition) mandates that those who report for work on special non-working days are entitled to get an additional 30% on their regular hourly pay rate.

*1st 8 hours – plus 30% of the daily rate of 100%

*excess of 8 hours – plus 30% of hourly rate on said day

So, if you are a minimum-wage earner (P481 in Metro Manila):

P60.10 (the hourly pay) X 0.30 (the additional pay) = P78.13 (your special holiday rate)
