#WalangPasok – August 6 2022 declared a holiday In Cebu

The province of Cebu will be marking its 453rd foundation anniversary this August 6, Saturday.

August 6 of every year is a special non-working public holiday throughout Cebu as mandated by Republic Act 8952. It became law in 2000 during the time of then-President Joseph Estrada.

The day is also a special non-working holiday in Cebu City, Lapu-lapu City, and Mandaue City, all categorized as highly-urbanized cities, as well as in the component cities of Danao and Toledo.

Pay Rules For Cebu  – August 6, 2022

According to the 2022_DOLE_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays like the Cebu Foundation Day anniversary.

This means that workers who are not required or permitted to work on August 6 in Cebu are not entitled to any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that provides for that.

The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days are entitled to receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
