January 2 2024 to be declared a holiday?

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s has so far not declared 2 January 2024, the day after New Year, as a special non-working holiday. This is according to Proclamation 368 which he signed last October 2023. Click here to read more about Proclamation 368 of 2023.

It is possible that Marcos will declare 2 January 2024, which falls on a Tuesday, as an additional special non-working holiday similar to his announcement regarding 26 December 2023 earlier this week. Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, for her part, previously released an order indicating that classes will resume from its two-week holiday break by January 3, 2024.
