#MayPasok – December 24 2023 is NOT a declared holiday

Christmas Eve, December 24, is not listed as a special non-working holiday according to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 42, series of 2022. It is because it falls on a Sunday this year.

As a result, those working in industries that routinely require employees to report for duty even on Sundays like business process outsourcing companies are not entitled to get any additional pay.

According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, no premium pay will be given for those who will report for work on December 24, Sunday. That is because it is considered as an ordinary workday this year.
