#WalangPasok – January 16 2024 declared holiday in Navotas City

Navotas City will be celebrating its 118th founding anniversary this 16 January 2024, Tuesday. The day has been declared a special non-working holiday in Navotas City by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. through Proclamation 435.

The theme for this year’s founding anniversary celebration is “Kapag Tulong-Tulong, Angat ALL, Saya ALL,” according to the Facebook page of the Navotas City Public Information Office.

Pay Rules for Navotas City Founding Anniversary – 16 January 2024

According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays.

In line with this, workers who are not required or permitted to work on January 16, 2024 in Navotas City are not entitled to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.

The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days must receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
