Albay Day – April 3 2013

President Benigno Aquino III has declared April 3, Wednesday, a special non-working holiday in the province of Albay. The said province in Bicol Region will be celebrating the annual Daragang Mayon Festival throughout the month of April. Aquino made the announcement through Proclamation 557, which Executive Secretary Pacquito Ochoa signed last March 7. Read the full text of Proclamation 557 here.

Employers are not required to pay anything to their employees during special non-working days (ergo, the policy “no work, no pay”) “unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment on a special day.” Read the detailed DOLE pay rules here.
