As part of their eighth anniversary celebration, local burger joint Zark’s Burgers offered to sell their burgers at P8.00 each for their first 80 customers in all their stores nationwide this August 28, which is a national holiday. All hell broke loose soon after.
Photos showing hundreds of people rowdily flocking to Zark’s stores have been circulating on social media in the past few hours, with users comparing it to a stampede as well as the zombie apocalypse scenario depicted in the Korean horror film “Train to Busan.” The burgers typically cost P100 above.
Some frustrated patrons complained that the management in certain Zark’s outlets, like the one in SM Pampanga, canceled the so-called P8 promo because they can no longer accmodate the deluge of customers who suddenly trooped to their stores today.
Some netizens criticized the outlet for mismanaging the crowd. Meanwhile, others pointed out that it is silly for Filipinos to be almost literally dying over trying to buy a burger at a discounted price. Still, some argued that the situation highlights the poverty still experienced by most households.

Sa ngalan ng otso pesos na burger magkakapatayan pa bes. Yan ang malungkot na katotohanan na maraming mahirap dito sa Pilipinas.

PS: What can possibly happen if PUP lowers their tuition rate to P8.00 per unit? Will there be pandemonium as well? 😛
