DepEd to launch Brigada Eskwela this August 1 2022 with the theme: “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral”

The Department of Education (DepEd) will be having its annual “Brigada Eskwela” from August 1 to 26, 2022 for public elementary and secondary schools nationwide. “Brigada Eskwela” is also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week,

Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio previously announced through Department Order #34 series of 2022 that school year 2022-2023 will begin by August 22, despite appeals from teachers’ organizations to push it back to September.

As of publication time, DepEd is yet to release the official theme for this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” as well as other details as regards the launching activity by August 1. It can be recalled that the theme for last year’s Brigada Eskwela was “Bayanihan para sa Paaralan.” The Filipino Scribe will be updating this post when new information becomes available.

With DepEd now planning to resume all face-to-face classes nationwide by November 2022, it is expected that this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” will focus on gathering donations that will help in ensuring that schools are compliant with minimum public health standards like electric fans, face masks, alcohol, and the like.

Started in 2003, “Brigada Eskwela” has three main objectives: to practice shared governance, to bring the spirit of education to the community level, and to utilize local resources to public schools.

Interested parties may directly contact the schools where they want to volunteer or donate for details on how they can help.
