Iloilo City will be marking its 85th charter anniversary this August 25, Thursday. The day has been declared a special non-working day in the city courtesy of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 35.

Iloilo City was created through Commonwealth Act 57 of 1936. It was signed by then-President Manuel Quezon. It was also during Quezon’s tenure when August 25 of every year was first declared as a special public holiday to celebrate the foundation anniversary of Iloilo City.

Pay Rules For Iloilo City Charter Day Anniversary – August 25, 2022

As mentioned in the 2022_DOLE_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays like theIloilo City charter day anniversary.

This means that workers who are not required or permitted to work on August 25 in Iloilo City are not due to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.

The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days are entitled to receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
