#WalangPasok – September 15 2023 to be declared holiday in Bulacan?

(LAST UPDATE: 6:40 PM of September 14)

The 125th anniversary of the inauguration of the Malolos Congress or the Anibersaryo ng Kongreso ng Malolos will be commemorated this 15 September 2023.

The day is expected to be declared a special non-working holiday in the province of Bulacan by either by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. or by Governor Daniel Fernando. If this happens, this holiday will give Bulakenyos a three-day weekend because September 15 this year falls on a Friday.

However, there is still no such announcement as of Thursday night. The official Facebook page of Bulacan’s provincial government mentioned about the occasion but it did not mention if September 15 is a holiday.

The inauguration of the Malolos Congress is significant in Philippine history because the delegates there were also the ones who drafted the 1899 Malolos Constitution, which was promulgated January 1899. This constitution served as the basic law of the First Philippine Republic under President Emilio Aguinaldo.
