DepEd teachers to receive P1000 as World Teachers’ Day 2023 incentive benefit

Teachers working in the Department of Education (DepEd) will be receiving P1,000 as a World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit this October.

This financial benefit is included in the allocation for DepEd as stipulated in the General Appropriations Act for 2023, or more formally known as Republic Act 11936. The document is uploaded in the website of the Department of Budget and Management.

DepEd has not yet released the guidelines as regards who are entitled to receive this incentive benefit, so it is not clear if newly-hired public school teachers can get it. This annual practice was started during the time of former Education Secretary Leonor Briones.

It is likely that public school teachers will be receiving their P1,000 during the World Teachers’ Day on October 5 or soon after that date.
