#WalangPasok – October 20 2023 declared holiday in Negros Oriental

Negros Oriental will be celebrating the annual Buglasan Festival this 20 October 2023, Friday.

The day has been declared as a special non-working holiday in the said province in central Visayas through President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 350.

Pay Rules For Buglasan Festival Day – October 20, 2023

According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays like the celebration of Buglasan festival in Negros Oriental.

In line with this, workers who are not required or permitted to work on October 20 in Negros Oriental are not entitled to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.

The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days must receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
