BONIFACIO DAY – November 30 2023 IS NOT a holiday

BONIFACIO DAY – November 30 2023 IS NOT a holiday

(UPDATED: 6 November 2023)

The 160th birth anniversary of revolutionary leader and national hero Andres Bonifacio will be commemorated this November 30, Thursday.

Despite this, that day will just be a regular working day and NOT a national holiday this 2023. This is because President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. moved the commemoration of Bonifacio Day this year to November 27, Monday, through Proclamation 90 which he signed last year.

This is in line with the administration’s “holiday economics” policy where certain holidays are moved to Monday to create a three-day weekend which is intended to boost local economy by encouraging public spending. It is worth pointing out that those who will report for work on November 30 will not get any additional pay.

The Philippines first celebrated Bonifacio Day as a national holiday in 1921 after the Philippine Legislature passed Act #2946.
