Gov’t employees to receive P5000 as performance enhancement incentive by December 15 2023
All qualified government employees will be receiving a productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) amounting to P5,000 beginning December 15, 2023. This practice was started in accordance with section 6 of then-President Benigno Aquino III’s Executive Order 201.
This annual cash gift was first given towards the end of 2016. In his executive order, Aquino explained that the purpose of institutionalizing the PEI is to improve the productivity of government employees.
According to a circular released by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) last 2017, state workers who have been in service for at least four months as of November 30 and who are still in service as of that date are entitled to receive the full PEI.
This covers the following:
1) All positions for civilian personnel, whether regular, casual, or contractual in nature, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time, now existing or hereafter created in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches, the Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutional Offices, SUCs, and GOCCs; and in LGUs.
2) Military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Department of National Defense; and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology under the Department of the Interior and Local Government; Philippine Coast Guard under the Department of Transportation; and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Meanwhile, those who have been in service for less than four months are still entitled a share of PEI on a pro-rated basis:
Length of Service Percentage of the PEI
3 months to less than 4 months 50%
2 months to less than 3 months 40%
1 month to less than 2 months 30%
Less than 1 month 20%
