#WalangPasok – December 29 2023 declared holiday in San Pedro, Laguna

San Pedro, Laguna will be celebrating its ninth cityhood anniversary this 29 December 2023.

The day, which this year falls on a Friday, has been declared as a special non-working holiday in the city according to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 415.

This special non-working holiday will give the citizens of San Pedro, Laguna a four-day weekend given that 1 January 2024 is New Year’s Day. It must be emphasized though that Marcos has not yet declared January 2, Tuesday, a holiday as of today.

Pay Rules For San Pedro, Laguna Foundation Day – December 29, 2023

According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays.

In line with this, workers who are not required or permitted to work on December 29 in San Pedro, Laguna are not entitled to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.

The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days must receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
