#WalangPasok – January 11 2024 declared holiday in Bataan
Bataan will be celebrating its 267th founding anniversary this 11 January 2024.
The day, which falls on a Thursday next year, has been declared as a special non-working holiday in the province according to Republic Act 11138 which then-President Rodrigo Duterte signed in 2018.
Pay Rules For Bataan Foundation Day – 11 January 2024
According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary_Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays.
In line with this, workers who are not required or permitted to work on January 11, 2024 in Bataan are not entitled to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.
The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days must receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
