#WalangPasok – Class suspensions for March 15 2024

The municipality of Bauko, Mountain Province will be celebrating its annual Begnas di Bauko Festival this March 15.

The day has been declared a special non-working holiday in Bauko, Mountain Province as stipulated in President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 479. The holiday will give those studying and working in the said municipality a three-day weekend because the holiday falls on a Friday this year.

Pay Rules for the March 15, 2024 holiday in Bauko, Mountain Province

According to the 2023_edition of Department and Labor and Employment’s (DOLE)_Handbook_on_Workers_Statutory_Monetary Benefits, the “no work, no pay” principle should be in effect during special non-working holidays like this year’s celebration of Begnas di Bauko Festival in Bauko, Mountain Province.

This means that workers who are not required or permitted to work in Bauko, Mountain Province on March 15 are not due to receive any compensation unless there is a collective bargaining agreement or a company policy that implements that.

The handbook likewise highlighted that employees who work during special non-working days are entitled to receive an additional pay of 30% for every hour that they render service.
