Seenzoned ka? Here are five reasons why

Seenzoned ka? Here are five reasons why

Becoming familiar with the words used by the present generation (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not yet old. lol) is one of the lighter sides of being a teacher to teenagers. Before you know it, the words they use had already found its way to your daily vocabulary.

A word I frequently here nowadays is “seenzoned.” It’s apparently a spinoff from “friendzoned,” another recently-invented word. For starters, it is said that you are “friendzoned” when you can’t make any “progress” with the person you like.

It’s as if you’re in the boundary of being a boyfriend and being a regular boy friend. As a popular Filipino song goes, “Kaibigan Lang Pala.”

Being “seenzoned” happens when you send a private or chat message to someone via Facebook and yet that person did not bother to reply. Adding insult to the injury is that Facebook will actually tell you that your message has been “seen.” Now, talk about rubbing it in!

When you get “seenzoned,” especially by your crush/es, a lot of negative thoughts will definitely cross your mind. Why did I get ignored? Was he/she offended? Annoyed, perhaps? Here are some reasons why you got “seenzoned”:

  1. Who received the message?

Did you try to send a very casual PM (e.g. “Hi, Kuya!” “Good evening po.”) to someone who does not really know you without properly introducing yourself first? Next time, don’t be too FC (“feeling close”). 😛

  1. What is the message?

No one replies to chain messages, and no one replies to group messages too. Put yourself in this situation – how are you supposed to respond to someone who sends you “hi,” “hello,” or a smiley face out of the blue?

  1. What time did you send the message?

Let’s face it, although we may still be online on Facebook by 11:00 PM or even later, it does not necessarily mean we’re willing to engage with anyone.

  1. Internet connection problems

Net connection can get really sucky, and that affects especially those who use Facebook mobile. The recipient probably already viewed your message, but who knows, his/her connection went dead right after reading it? Sometimes, you assumed you already replied to a message when in fact, it wasn’t sent.

  1. Ayaw ka niyang kausapin.

‘Nuff said. #BITTER

  1. I think okay lang na ma seenzoned ka or ma ignored…at least diba you can spot some problems about the both of you maybe you have some personal problems that results in being just ”SeenZoned”‘ so ganyan talaga….
But if you look about sa internet connections this year parang medyo “‘laggy” na eh…diba mahal na nga ang monthly fees natin mahina pa ang internet so chances are di talaga na rereply agad…
