Iglesia ni Cristo to endorse Duterte, Marcos – source

The leadership of the Iglesia ni Cristo will be endorsing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for President and Senator Bongbong Marcos for Vice President, according to a report on the government-run People’s Television Network, citing a credible source.

The circular letter or tagubilin containing the list of the group’s supported candidates for national and local positions will be read during Wednesday night and Thursday worship services in INC chapels in the Philippines and around the world. A sample ballot will also be distributed.

Although Duterte’s running-mate is Senator Alan Peter Cayetano while Marcos is running with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, a lot of groups have been campaigning for the pair. For example, there’s a website with the domain www.DuterteMarcos.com run by a group calling themselves AlDuB or Alyansang Duterte-Bongbong.

The two also maintained a cozy relationship in the campaign trail. Duterte, for example, have repeatedly expressed willingness to have Marcos’ father and namesake, former President Ferdinand Marcos, buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. During a campaign stop in Ilocos Norte last February, he even joked that he will let the younger Marcos take over if he fails to fulfill his promise of ending rampant criminality within three to six months.
