FEELING SEOK JIN? Karlo Nograles dances to BTS’ “Dynamite” to promote anti-hunger campaign
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles can be seen dancing to the tune of the hit song “Dynamite” by the internationally-acclaimed South Korean boyband BTS in online ads purportedly promoting the anti-hunger campaign of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The clip was taken during an appearance of Nograles in the popular noontime show “Eat Bulaga” back in December. Speaking during the program, Nograles touted the government’s anti-hunger project “Pilipinas Kontra Gutom.” He also called on private entitites to make donations if possible. The video has generated 3.6 million views as of posting time. It is not clear if Nograles’ ads were paid for using taxpayers’ money.
A former three-term congressman from Davao City from 2010 to 2018, Nograles has been serving as the chair of the government’s inter-agency task force on zero hunger since 2020. And since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Duterte has also appointed Nograles to be a co-chair of the inter-agency task force on emerging infectious diseases.
A son of the late House Speaker Prospero Nograles, he was supposed to run for Senator during the 2019 midterm elections after being involved in a controversy over P50 billion worth of midplaced funds in the House of Representatives. He is widely expected to push through with a Senate run for 2022.
