February 9 2024 declared a holiday in Mandaluyong City

Mandaluyong City will be commemorating the 79th anniversary of its liberation from the Japanese invaders during World War II this Friday, February 9.

The day, which is also referred to as “Nueve de Febrero,” has been declared a special working holiday in Mandaluyong City as mandated by Republic Act 8814. The law was signed in 2000 during the term of then-President Joseph Estrada.

This year, this stipulation has been superceded by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Proclamation 368 which declared 9 February 2024 as an additional special non-working holiday nationwide in connection with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
